70 days of Decree and Blessing during the Torch Relay through the British Isles & Ireland
Welcome to 70 days of Prayer and Blessing for the British Isles and Ireland
We offer you these prayers, blessings and declarations as a possible day-by-day guide to aid you in praying as the Olympic Flame travels across the British Isles and Ireland. Some might like to fast as you pray during the next 70 days and we would encourage you to seek the Lord in this and be guided by Him. The number 70 is symbolic of restoration, and means ‘prior to increase’.
This is a strategic time for our nation as we host the 30th Olympiad and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty our Queen.
Brian Mills (Director of InterPrayer International Partnership) prophesied in 2005: “So that, when hundreds of thousands of athletes, media, supporters and organisers come to Britain for the Olympics in 2012, we (that is we as God’s people) will be ready to welcome them into the presence of God. Just think, the nations will be coming to us. The Olympic Games began in 776 BC but their origins go back further still. The Games were brought about to honour the Greek god Zeus. This god was referred to as Baal in the Bible. The Opening Ceremony hymn is dedicated to Zeus. The Olympic torch was re-introduced to the Games by Hitler in 1936. It comes from the cave of Dikteon in Greece and will arrive in this country on 18 May. It will then be taken throughout the land, stopping overnight in 70 cities to arrive in London on 27 July. The torch was originally lit to Zeus, and even today there are many pagan influences over these Games.
However, Jesus is far greater, and we believe that as we exalt Him over our Nation and claim the torch to represent the Light of Christ going through our land, we can turn this to something positive for the Kingdom of God.

God has spoken to a number of people about this unique 70 day season and all are seeking to work together through the More than Gold 70 day cascade of prayer and praise “Shine as the Flame Travels”. On 18 May, 7:141 hosts an open air prayer event in Plymouth and will continue to do so each night before the Flame arrives in the 70 locations. On 19 May the Praise Bus will start its journey from Land’s End around Great Britain, two hours ahead of the Olympic Flame, and the More Than Gold 70 Day Prayer Relay begins. This will travel between all 70 towns and cities listed, with the prayer baton, containing prayers and scriptures, being handed over in each place around midday. The National Society of Bellringers has been asked if bells can be rung along the route. On 27 July at 8am church bells are to be rung across our nation on the day the Games start. The last time this happened was exactly 70 years ago to the day, when Churchill declared, "Before Alamein we never had a victory, after Alamein we never had a defeat." Let us pray that this will now happen in the spiritual realm, and that it will herald in a time of victory for the Church.
An initiative for ‘flashmob’ public prayer gatherings based on 2 Chronicles 7:14
We must never underestimate the synergy of the power of the prayer of agreement (Matthew 18:18). Over these 70 days we come together across the British Isles with one heart and one voice. As we decree God’s Name and bless His people, and pray the Lord’s Prayer in unity, we believe we will see His Kingdom come.
The prayers in this guide are based on the Name of God, the great ‘I AM’, and when we honour God’s name, He will reveal His glory. Each day we will declare a Name and aspect of our God, to make decrees and to bless.
Job 22:28 (KJV) tells us “Thou shalt also decree a thing and it shall be established.” We are called to make heavenly decrees, decrees that will bring about divine justice. As with Jeremiah, our anointed words will uproot the forces of darkness and plant kingdom revelation. (Jeremiah 1:10)
We speak blessings because the Bible says that one of the roles of the priests (Levites) was to speak (not pray) blessings over the people. We have become a kingdom of priests to our God and should take this privilege seriously.
During this time of heightened security, we would ask you to pray protection daily over the British Isles and Ireland.
How to Use this Guide
As you work through these daily prayers we encourage you to say the Prayer of Blessing over each city, then speak the decree using the Name of God and the scripture and declaration, then speak the blessings, starting with the Aaronic Blesing. At noon we suggest praying the Lord’s Prayer, to link in with the incentive initiated by Jonathan Oloyede (London Director of Global Day of Prayer) for all Christians to pray in unison this powerful and uniting prayer that God’s Kingdom may come and His will be done in our land. Finally pray the Prayer of Protection over our nation.

We bless you that justice and righteousness might take their proper place within your boundaries. We bless you that the favour of the Lord might rest upon you and give you peace. Aaronic Blessing
The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. So they will put My Name on the Israelites, and I will bless them. (Numbers 6:24-27)
Prayer of Protection
Almighty Father, we come to You in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, and in that mighty Name we break the power of every strategy and assignment sent against the British Isles and Ireland. We pray the mighty covering of the Living Blood of Jesus Christ over our villages, towns and cities, over our coastlands, seaports and airports. We ask that You release the angelic host to protect us from every attack and lift each citizen above every circumstance and crisis. We affirm the finished work of Christ over all demonic forces and decree that no weapon formed against the plans and purposes for the British Isles and Ireland will prosper, and we decree that no longer will violence be heard in our land, or destruction within our borders. We bless the atmosphere to be charged with peace and order. Amen.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
We declare that our nation will serve one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. We negate any ties to Zeus and demonic forces, and declare and decree that this torch will be symbolic of the light of Jesus going through our land.

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
At her Coronation, the Queen promised to maintain the Laws of God, and the true profession of the Gospel. She received a Bible, and it was declared, “Here is wisdom. This is the Royal Law. These are the lively oracles of God.” When Queen Elizabeth took the Coronation Oath on 2 June 1953, her first covenant promise was to Almighty God and then to us, her subjects, to govern according to our laws and customs.
