Prayer Gathering - Pontycymer nr Bridgend

This is to let you know that the next Prayer Gathering will take place on Saturday 17th November at 10.30am (10am for refreshments) at the Tabernacle Chapel, Meadow Street, Pontycymer nr Bridgend.

This former mining village in the Garw Valley witnessed remarkable scenes of revival when Evan Roberts visited it from the 16th to the 18th November 1904.

The theme of the day will be “Prepare the Way of the Lord” (Mt 3:3) and will be hosted by David & Ann Rhodes of “Garw Valley Links” fellowship – www.garwvalleylinks.org.uk – who have the keys to the chapel.

After lunch, at 2pm, we will drive up to the top of the Garw (Blaengarw) in order to pray over the valley, Bridgend and beyond. (Mathew 6:10, Psalm 24:1).

Further details and directions to the chapel will be sent out nearer the time. A poster is attached which you may like to use in your church or fellowship.

Blessings in Christ Jesus.

International Prayer: Wednesday, October 31st at 6:45 p.m

Dear Intercessors:

This is a reminder and an invitation to join us this Wednesday, October 31st at 6:45 p.m., for an international prayer service in the schoolroom at Moriah Chapel in Loughor. This marks 108th anniversary of the beginning of the 1904 Welsh Revival that changed the face of Christianity.

Please plan to arrive no later than 6:45 p.m. so as to have time to get situated inside. There will be a live video link with a group of intercessors praying with us near Sacramento, California from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Moriah is located at 64-70 Glebe Road in Loughor, SA4 6QS, between Loughor and Gorseinon. Please refer to this link to Google Maps for specific information:
http://goo.gl/maps/EqZlj

If you live near the Sacramento area in California, you can join them in prayer on the 31st from 12PM to 2PM at the Rock of Roseville Bonita Campus, 202 Bonita St., Roseville, 95678. There is more information at the "Rock Home" link at the top of the page below.

If you plan to be with us here in Wales, please let us know so we can get an idea of how many people will be coming.

If you are not able to make it to either place and would like to join in with the meeting, it will be streamed live on the Internet at http://rockofroseville.com/media/live from 7-9pm London time on October 31st. (That's 3-4EDT, 2-4CDT, 1-3MDT, 12-2PDT in the U.S.)

We anticipate a unique time of prayer together. This will be the first time there has ever been a worldwide video broadcast of trans-Atlantic prayer from historic Moriah Chapel in Wales. We sincerely hope you will join with us in our plea for heaven-sent revival for the nations!

Noman Brend's Memorial Service: Thursday November 8th, 2pm

Dear Friends

We have had a wonderful time celebrating Dad's life with the funeral service last Thursday at Swansea where Dad was buried with my brother Peter. We prepared for 20 to be there and there must have been about 40 all together. We had a little service and sang heartily, 'When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound ......When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there', Mum conducting the chorus as someone said, from her wheelchair (because she finds walking difficult and gets quite breathless). Then on the Friday we had a 'small' service of celebration and thanksgiving at Hebron Hall led by Brian West. He and his wife have been wonderful to us and to Mum at this time! We prepared for 30 - 50 and about 50 attended the service, it was a happy family and friends time. Please find attached the family tribute that may bring back some memories.
A Memorial Service is to be held in the Conference Hall at the Bible College of Wales, Derwen Fawr, Swansea, SA2 8EB, (for those who use sat nav) on Thursday 8th November at 2 pm. Refreshments will be available after the service and any donations will be divided between three of Mum and Dad's Christian charities that they have supported over the years: ie Open doors, OM and Ebenezer.
Please would you pass this information on to any 'old Emmanuelite' you keep in contact with and who may be interested to know of Dad's death, and/or this celebration of his life.  We have been very touched by some of the comments that have been sent to us or passed on via facebook, which indicate what a quiet impact Dad had on so many lives, in so many ways.

Please make yourself known to Mum, Elizabeth and I if you are able to attend as time has added wrinkles, grey hair and for some of us, extra weight!  which means that we are not recognisable from our school days!

Bye for now, and God bless you all,
Maryxo

The Second Gaza War: Urgent Request for Prayer

As you know, Israel has now entered into Operation Pillar of Defence in Gaza, on Israel’s south-west border. After months of continuous rocket fire from within Gaza by Hamas, with a particular escalation in the last week, Israel had no choice but to take action.

In a targeted air offensive, Israel removed the chief military commander of Hamas, Ahmed Jabari, on Wednesday. Jabari had masterminded all Hamas terrorist activity in the Gaza Strip over the last ten years, and was also directly involved in the 2006 abduction of Gilad Shalit.  Israel is also targeting key military sites in Gaza.

Hamas has responded to these Israeli airstrikes by launching hundreds more rockets into the south of Israel, including some long-range missiles aimed at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. On Thursday, three Israelis were killed in the southern town of Kiryat Malachi.

Hamas is a Sunni Islamic terrorist group, funded and armed by Iran. Their founding charter rejects Israel’s right to exist, and pledges to destroy the Jewish state through military means.

The last war in Gaza, Operation Cast Lead in January 2009, caused damage to the military infrastructure of Hamas, but the terrorist group continued to fire rockets into Israel.  Since the beginning of 2012 approximately 800 rockets or mortar shells have been launched from Gaza.

Normal life is simply impossible for those living in Israel’s southern towns near the Gaza border, with just 15 seconds to get to a bomb shelter when the sirens go off.  As schools and city centers have had to close for days on end, Israel reluctantly decided to take action to put an end to this untenable situation.

As the battle rages, please join us in praying:

•         That Operation Pillar of Defense would end quickly and with minimal loss of life on both sides.

•         That the terrorist infrastructure of Hamas, and its military capabilities would be effectively removed.

•       That people would search for God and find Him during these troubled times.  Please pray especially that the Lord would transform  our enemies into our friends, by pouring out His salvation on radical Muslims and the Islamic world.

•         That this second Gaza war would not escalate, and that no other nation would get involved.

•         That the nations of the world would respond in just and truthful ways, as most have been doing, accepting Israel’s right to defend itself.

•         That the Body of Messiah in Israel, both Jews and Arabs, will continue to be a source of light and hope to all who fear.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6).

‘The Lord also will roar from Zion. And utter His voice from Jerusalem;

the heavens and earth will shake; but the Lord will be a shelter for His people,

and the strength of the children of Israel’ (Joel 3:16)
